Kauai: The Garden Isle

Just a half dozen photos from a June 2009 visit by Maury King and Teri Leonard. Great sightseeing, and made connections with Malama Kauai, a sustainability group similar to South Maui Sustainability.

If you want to read a little about the trip, head over to my ImpressiveWords blog.

The first three photos are of Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Not large, but spectacular.

The next photo is from the cliffside trail that goes along the Napali Coast, wettest spot on earth.
You can see right through the water at the reef.

Below are fields of wetland taro growing in sections called loi.
There isn't as much growing on Maui as there isn't as much running water there.
There are a number of rivers on Kauai, none on Maui.

Here I am at Hanalei Bay with the buildings in the background at the site of what used to be Club Med many years ago.

Tell me about where you love to travel.
